USA Today Army Corps of Engineers, Softball Academic All-Americans, & Alumni Events (June ’19)

Check out the USA Today 2019 special edition U.S. Army Corps of Engineers publication online. Tau Beta Pi has a full-page color add on page 39. You can also request a physical copy of the magazine from Tau Beta Pi Headquarters.

This year’s edition is titled “Teamwork” and includes a story on the USACE response to extreme weather, a profile of hydropower on the Arkansas River, cleanup of a WWII site in Alaska, and much more.

Four Tau Bates have been selected as 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-Americans® for NCAA Division III Softball. They are:

Christine P. LaRochelle, NJ A 2019, is an engineering management graduate from the Stevens Institute of Technology and first team All-American; she is a pitcher on the softball team. LaRochelle also earned a master’s degree in systems engineering, ranks second in program history in innings pitched and ERA, and finished her career with 224 strikeouts.

Ilissa S. Hamilton, OH A 2020, is a biomedical engineering major at Case Western Reserve University and second team All-American; she is a pitcher on the softball team. Hamilton is a two-time All-University Athletic Association performer, named the Most Outstanding Pitcher at the Holland Super Regional in 2018, and has a 4.0 GPA.

Harleigh N. Kaczegowicz, NY K 2019, is a recent graduate of the University of Rochester in mechanical engineering and third team All-American; she is a catcher on the softball team. Kaczegowicz is a 3-time All-Academic Liberty League selection, ranks top-10 in school history in 11 hitting categories, and was selected to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament team in 2016.

Emily H. Oliver, VT B 2019, is a mechanical engineering graduate from Norwich University and third team All-American; she is a pitcher on the softball team. Oliver is the first softball student-athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in over a decade, past VP of the Vermont Beta Chapter, and had 28 wins in her career.
