Student-Family Profile, UNLV Senior Design, & CMU President (June 2017)

Adam R. Klie, CA Y 2017, was recently profiled as a 2017 Outstanding Graduate from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He is graduating with a 4.0 GPA in bioengineering, the school leader in Div. II points scored and rebounds as a varsity basketball player, and being selected as the 2016-17 Academic All-American of the year for Div. II men’s basketball.

Both of Klie’s parents are chemical engineers and also Tau Beta Pi members. His father, Ross R. Klie, MO B ’77, was an academic All-American while playing basketball at Missouri Rolla. His mother, Mary A. Tomaszewski, MI G ’78, earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. In May, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) held its 2017 spring senior design awards. The grand prize went to team “The Electrical Tester” with Tau Bate Eric C. Monahan, NV B 2017, as one of the team members. The team also received the Sustainability Award.

Carnegie Mellon University President Subra Suresh, PA G ’77, has announced his plans to resign, effective June 30, 2017. Dr. Suresh has been president since 2013. Previously, he was a professor and dean of the School of Engineering at MIT.

He joined Tau Beta Pi in 2015 as an eminent engineer. Read the article from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for more details in biographical information on Dr. Suresh.
