Football & Volleyball Academic All-District & Tau Bate Startup (Nov. 2016)

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced the 2016 Academic All-District Football teams, including Division I, II, III, and college (division). All First Team Academic All-District selections advance to the national Capital One Academic All-American ballot.

There are six Tau Beta Pi members that have been named to the 2016 Capital One Academic All-District Football teams (& three eligible students): (See the full list)

NCAA Division III: First team (District 1)
Kevin N. Lynch – (MA A 2017), mechanical engineering/ fire protection at Worcester Polytechnic Institute
NCAA Division III: First team (District 3)
John C. Ramsdell – (NY G 2018), biomedical engineering at (eligible student)
NCAA Division I: First team (District 4)
Nick A. Jeffreys – (SC G 2017), civil engineering at The Citadel (chapter vice president)
NCAA Division II: First team (District 4)
1. Colin G. Peter – (CO A 2017), mechanical engineering at Colorado School of Mines
2. Caleb A. Courkamp – (CO A 2016), mechanical engineering at Colorado School of Mines
NCAA Division III: First team (District 4)
Vincent Char – (PA I 2018), mechanical engineering at Widener University (eligible student)
NCAA Division I: First Team (District 5)
Kurt Laseak – (OH D 2016), mechanical engineering at Ohio University

Austin Smestad – (MO G 2017), chemical engineering at Washington Unviersity (MO)

Two Tau Bates are founders of a startup company developing “a high resolution 24-inch screen that collapses and expands like an umbrella.” Arovia, Inc., has three co-founders, including: Alexander D. Wesley, NY K ’10, Co-Founder & CEO; and George Zhu, TX G 2017, Co-Founder & CTO.
