Fish & Richardson have announced that three principals were recently named as recipients of the 2016 “Women Worth Watching” award by Profiles in Diversity Journal. Linda Liu Kordziel, NC G ’90, is one of this year’s recipients. She focuses her practice on intellectual property and patent litigation in a vast range of technical areas based in Washington, DC.
According to the press release, Kordziel “is a seasoned trial attorney with experience in all phases of litigation, serves on the selection panel for Fish’s 1L Diversity Fellowship Program, and graduated magna cum laude with bachelor’s degrees in biomedical and electrical engineering from Duke University.
The Houston Chronicle (TX) published an article with details on work to “create a device to remove carbon dioxide from the emissions of fossil fuel power plants” by an engineering professor and two graduate students. The team is working at the University of Missouri and initial tests to channel emissions through a chamber that uses high pressure to separate carbon dioxide from other gasses have been positive.
Allen A. Busick, AR A ’11, is a doctoral student working on the project and he says the process costs about 25 percent less than any method of carbon capture currently in use. Read the article for more information.
Jason C. Stith, Ph.D., P.E., S.E., (KY A ’04), has been named the National Society of Professional Engineers 2016 Young Engineer of the Year. Currently, Dr. Stith works as a civil engineer at Michael Baker International in Louisville, KY, and consults at other offices nationwide. He is also the recipient of two other recent honors: named among the top 20 engineers under 40 in December by ENR Midwest, an engineering trade publication; and named the Kentucky Young Engineer of the Year by the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers.
