Awards: Engineering, Student-Athlete, & ASCE (April 2016)

Stephen P. Rowe, AL B 2016, received the 2016 Capstone Engineering Society Outstanding Senior Award. Rowe will graduate in May with a degree in mechanical engineering. During his time as a student, he has completed a co-op rotation with BMW Manufacturing Co., co-authored a successful proposal to NASA related to buoyancy, and has participated in his off-campus church as a worship director.

According to the news article, Rowe plans to move to London, England, after graduation to pursue a master’s degree in mechanical engineering.

At the 2016 Wolfie Awards held by the North Carolina State Athletic Department on Monday, April 25, Kaitlyn E. Kramer, NC A 2016, was recognized as the Women’s ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year. Kramer is a senior double majoring in chemical engineering and textile engineering, she is a member of the women’s cross country and tracks teams, and will attend graduate school at NC State.

During her time as a student-athlete, she has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team, the ACC Honor Roll, and has received Capital One Academic All-District honors. Click here for full coverage the 2016 Wolfie Awards.

The National Capital Section of ASCE has announced the selection of Ahmet Zeytinci, Ph.D., P.E. (DC A ’74), as the Centennial Engineering of the month for March 2016. Dr. Zeytinci was cited for teaching pro bono for practicing engineers and students in preparation for the engineering license exam, for writing the column “Dr. Z’s Corner,” and for his involvement as a researcher and peer-reviewed conference presentations.
