Collegiate Bookswap, LegalTech Speaker, & Be the Match Event (January 2016)

This week students at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) will have the opportunity to participate in a bookswap event. The Ohio Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at CWRU is hosting the Bookswap. Sales will end on Friday, January 15. Click here to learn more about this event.

LegalTech New York 2016 will take place at the New York Hilton Midtown from February 2-4. These trade shows offer “law firms and legal departments the opportunity to get hands-on practical information for improving their law practice management.” FTI Technology Consulting, Inc., a global business advisory firm, is hosting several panels to discuss “the biggest trends impacting the legal industry” at LegalTech New York 2016.

Magistrate Judge Paul Singh Grewal, MA B ’93, will be a speaker on the panel entitled “Advice from Counsel: How Legal Departments are Innovating & Disrupting the E-Discovery Process.” Grewal is a Magistrate Judge in the U.S. District Court of Northern California. He has presided over and settled criminal and civil cases in a wide range of subject areas, including patent, employment, civil rights, commercial contract, trademark, and federal misdemeanor cases. The Illinois Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at Illinois Institute of Technology is hosting a “Be the Match” event on Thursday, January 14. The goal of the event is to increase the marrow donors in the Be the Match Registry which is accessed for bone marrow transplants. Read the announcement for more details. “All it takes to join the registry is to complete a consent form and do a simple check cell swab.” You can also make a contribution to the recruitment center.
