On Sunday, November 8, the West Virginia Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at West Virginia University (WVU), is hosting the first bubble soccer tournament to benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PCAN). The event not only supports PCAN, but also recognizes Charles M. Vest, Ph.D. (WV A ’63), who lost his life to pancreatic cancer in 2013. Dr. Vest was a WVU alumnus, past president of the National Academy of Engineering, and past president of MIT.

WV Alpha Chapter vice president Ryan A. Gellner, WV A 2016, is one of the main organizers of the event and spoke about its importance. “An event like this is important to TBP and the University because it gets a number of people involved in something that’s fun and for a great cause,” said Gellner. “We hope it starts a great relationship between TBP, WVU, and PCAN so that the fundraiser can be a tradition for years to come.” Read the article for more information and to register.
