Tau Beta Pi is excited to announce that Nicholas M. Donofrio, NY G ’67, will be the scheduled keynote speaker at the Welcoming Dinner of the 2015 TBP Convention in Providence, Rhode Island, on Thursday, October 29. Donofrio is an IBM Fellow Emeritus, previous IBM Executive Vice President Innovation and Technology, and “led the development and retention of IBM’s technical population and strove to enrich that community with a diversity of culture and thought” during his more than 40-year career with IBM.
In addition, he will also present “21st Century Innovation” as part of the evening professional development session lineup. The Association looks forward to welcoming Donofrio to our Convention along with the nearly 500 other Tau Beta Pi members. For more information, click here
The New York Post recently profiled Brad A. Sewell, MI Z ’09, and his new furniture brand Campaign. Sewell began accepting pre-orders in August for “his economical yet eco-friendly alternative to Ikea’s ‘sleek and disposable’ strategy.” Sewell previously worked as an engineer for Apple, a car designer for Honda, and graduated from Kettering University (MI) with a degree in mechanical engineering.

John R. Lovitt, KS B ’68, has been named as the Sam Bloomfield Distinguished Engineering in Residence at Wichita State University’s College of Engineering. Lovitt is a WSU alumnus having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering. He will be a member of the Pathways to Innovations team “established to help the faculty incorporate innovation and entrepreneurship into engineering education.”
Lovitt’s career includes time as a computer operator and programmer at Beech Aircraft Co., a systems engineer at McDonnell Douglass Corp., at Hewlett-Packard, and with Rational Software now a part of IBM. “In 2003, he became CEO of Pattern Insight and devoted himself to mentoring executive teams in early-stage technology companies and social benefit endeavors to develop and grow organizations.” Read the news announcement for more information
