Athlete & Student Recognitions (July 2015)

The NCAA recently announced the 2015-16 Woman of the Year conference nominations. Click here to see the full list of nominees, including a few Tau Bates: Kimberly T. Dinh (WI A 2015) & Janelle Strampe (SD A 2014).

In addition, the NCAA profiled previous years of NCAA Woman of they Year. In 2002, Jaimeeganleong “Jaimee” Soohoo Reynolds, NY D ’02, was nominated by the Ivy League as a lacrosse and volleyball student-athlete and was one of ten finalists. She competed in both sports while completing her degree in biological engineering at Cornell University. She was a four-time All-American in lacrosse and finished her senior volleyball season in the top 10 in the Ivy Group in assists and service aces. Currently, Jaimee is an energy engineer at Pathfinder Engineers & Architects LLP.

Ryan J. Spooner, NY B 2015, was recently profiled in The Valley Breeze (RI) for graduating summa cum laude from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering. Ryan minored in computer science and mathematics. According to the article, he received the award for excellence by an aerospace engineering senior from the department of mechanical and aerospace engineering and will begin working with Raytheon as a systems engineer.

The University of Wisconsin has announced the 2014-15 recipients of the Remington Scholarships. The Scholarships “are presented to the male and female student-athletes who complete their eligibility with the highest cumulative grade point averages and will graduate this season.” Kimberly T. Dinh, WI A 2015, is the female recipient of the Remington Scholarship. She recently graduated with a 4.0 GPA and a degree in chemical engineering. She will pursue graduate studies at MIT. Read the announcement for more information on Dinh, a four-year starter for the women’s golf team.
