Lt. Col. Orval “Rusty” A. Powell, Ph.D., P.E. (CO D ’97), has been selected as the 2015 Tau Beta Pi McDonald Mentor. He is an associate professor of mechanical engineering, Deputy for Curriculum and Assessment as the United States Air Force Academy, and an advisor to the Colorado Zeta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. Lt. The Institute of Industrial Engineers has selected Carl J. Kirpes, IA A ’12, as the 2015 recipient of the Outstanding Early Career in Business and Industry Award. The award “recognizes individuals who have made significant engineering contributions in the application, design, research or development of IE methods.” Currently, Kirpes is the vice president of operations at GENEYS Systems Integrator (MO). Daniel D. Clinton Jr., P.E. – (TX D ’52) NSPE Award is the highest award and was given for “his outstanding contributions to engineering profession and to securing the public welfare.”
Skip Lewis Jr., P.E. – (SC A ’66) NSPE Distinguished Service Award and past president of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying
Ahmet Zeytinci, Ph.D., P.E. – (DC A ’74) Engineering Education Excellence Award for nearly 30 years as a professor of engineering at the University of the District of Columbia
