My Central New Jersey reported on local K-12 news stories recently, including the work of the New Jersey Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at Rutgers University. The chapter hosted a K-12 MindSET activity session with students from Fords Middle and Iselin Middle schools. The event in late April focused on “building balloon-powered cars and learning about the role force and friction can play in the understanding of Newton’s laws.

In 2014, the same two schools worked together to create water propelled rockets with engineering students from Rutgers. Ian M. Reucroft, NJ B 2016, is the outreach coordinator for the NJ Beta Chapter and helped coordinate the event. Read the article for more information on the four-year partnership between NJ Beta and Woodbridge Township (NJ) students and for a picture of the group with their cars.
