Louisiana Tech University has named Hisham E. Hegab, Ph.D., P.E., as the new dean of the College of Engineering and Science. Dr. Hegab, LA G ’89, is a professor of engineering at Tech, an alumnus of the university, and previously served as associate dean of undergraduate studies and interim dean of the College. His appointment is pending approval from the University of Louisiana System’s Board of Supervisors and is effective July 1. Read the news release for more information


Last week, the California Sigma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at the University of California, Santa Barbara, held its spring initiation. In total, 20 new members of Tau Beta Pi were initiated. Current CA Sigma Chapter president Adriane A. Turner, CA S 2014, took a picture of the new Tau Beta Pi members (see below).

Voters in California will have an opportunity to vote for the office of the Secretary of the State on June 3. There will also be a runoff held in November between the top two candidates who received the most votes. Currently, there are eight candidates on the ballot, including Tau Beta Pi member Jeffrey H. Drobman, Ph.D. (CA E ’70). Click here for details on all the candidates from Smart Voter.

Dr. Drobman is president of Dr. Jeff Software company, has a bachelor’s in computer science & engineering and a Ph.D. from UCLA, and was a founding board member and current vice president of the UCLA Engineering Alumni Association.
