The University of Arizona recently awarded Marianna Yanes, AZ A 2013, with the Centennial Achievement Award during the Winter Commencement. Yanes graduated with a degree in biosystems engineering and was recognized for “academic integrity, overcoming challenges to achieve a college education, and for being the first to graduate from college in her family.”
The news article details Yanes achievements and her story: “Her philosophy is that life is too short to dwell on personal difficulties when there are so many serious problems in this world that need attention.” She plans to attend graduate school and hopes “to own her own greenhouse company that will feed the undernourished.”
