This year, Andres Calderon-Colon, Ph.D. (PR A ’72), was appointed as interim chancellor (acting rector) of the University of Puerto Rico’s Mayaguez (UPRM) campus. Dr. Calderon-Colon has been at the University for 41 years and has held other administrative positions such as Assistant Dean of the College of Engineering and has been a leading member of the Academic Senate of UPRM. The Redstone Rocket recently profiled NASA contractor Leslie Wood for receiving several awards in the Family and Morale Welfare and Recreation’s 2013 Arts & Crafts Contest, including third in ceramics, second in jewelry, and second in mixed media. Wood is a risk manager for the Launch Abort System and Exploration Systems Department for Jacobs Technology Inc. Her work has also been featured in art magazines.
