Outstanding Engineers, June 2013

Five members of Tau Beta Pi have been selected as 2013 Laureates. The Laureate program aims to “recognize gifted engineering students who have excelled in areas beyond their technical majors.” You can read the press release here, or read about our 88 remarkable TBP Laureates. The class of 2013 Laureates includes:

Michael R. Lacey – (SC G 2013) The Citadel, for diverse achievements
Darick W. LaSelle – (CO E 2013) University of Colorado at Denver, for service contributions
Benjamin B. Macy – (IN D 2013) Valparaiso University, for service contributions
Glenn M. Miltenberg – (CO Z 2013) United States Air Force Academy, for achievements in athletics
Adam M. Pizzaia – (NJ B 2013) Rutgers University, for diverse achievements

The Michigan State University Board of Trustees recently named nine MSU faculty as Distinguished Professors “in recognition of their achievements in the classroom, laboratory, and community.” Each individual holding the professorship receives a five-year annual stipend to support their professional activities. Bruce E. Dale, Ph.D. – (AZ A ’74) department of chemical engineering and materials science, was one of the newly named Distinguished Professors. Read more

Christopher D. Galvin, MD G 2013, was recently named as a Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Track & Field/Cross Country First Team selection. Galvin is a senior at The United Stated Naval Academy majoring in mechanical engineering. He became the first Midshipman and fourth league athlete to sweep the Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year awards for cross country, indoor track and outdoor track in one academic year in 2012-13. He also won the 10,000 meter run at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships with a meet record time of 29:57.26. Galvin is ranked first in Overall Order of Merit in the Class of 2013 and he also received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. See the full list of Div. I Academic All Americans
