Tau Beta Pi Association News, June 2013

Tau Beta Pi has announced that Bruce L. Walcott, Ph.D. (IN A ‘81), has been chosen as the 2013 Outstanding Advisor. Dr. Walcott is currently an alumni professor at the University of Kentucky where he is also chief advisor to the Kentucky Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. Here is an excerpt from the press release:
Dr. Walcott is known as a dedicated educator evidenced by his receipt of 17 professional and teaching awards, including most recently the University Student Organization 2012 Advisor of the Year. He also makes time to be active in other campus activities. He is the founder and director of the new UK Center for Visualization and Virtual Environments.


Russell E. Drummond, CO A 2013, was recently named as a Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Track & Field/Cross Country First Team selection. Drummond is a senior at the Colorado School of Mines majoring in civil engineering. He is a three-time All-American in the 1500 and ranks third at Mines with nine collegiate All-American awards. In addition, Drummond has been voted RMAC first team All-Academic nine times and USTFCCCA All-Academic on three occasions. See the full list of Div. II Academic All Americans


The University of Wyoming College of Engineering & Applied Science has named James D. Follum, WY A 2010, as the 2013 Tau Beta Pi Outstanding member. Follum is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at UW and earned his bachelor’s degree (2011) in electrical engineering. He has previously been recognized by Tau Beta Pi as a scholar (2010) and a fellow (2011).
