Engineering FYI, June 2013

Virgina Tech University has announced that engineering professor Sanjay Raman, Ph.D. (GA A ’87), has recently been named the university’s associate vice president for the National Capital Region. His duties in this position will include directing the research development team, planning and executing region-wide initiatives to enhance the university’s research education and outreach missions, and developing other research teams.

Tau Beta Pi The Engineering Honor Society is looking to fill the position of Bookkeeper at the Association’s Headquarters in Knoxville, TN. The deadline to apply for this position is June 19, 2013. The current executive dean of the College of Technology and Innovation at Arizona State University (ASU) has been chosen as the founding Dean of the new Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering at the University of San Diego. Chell A. Roberts, Ph.D., has served in his current position since 2011 and will assume his new post on July 1.

According to the press release, Dr. Roberts has a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Utah and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from Virginia Tech and while at ASU “Dean Roberts was the architect and creator of its general engineering program.”
