Tau Beta Pi Events, February 2013

Structural engineer William F. Baker Jr., P.E., S.E., will lecture at Khalifa University (UAE) on February 5 at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research. Baker, MO A ’75, is partner in charge of structural engineering at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. “He will discuss design philosophy and why each engineer should have one.”

The California Epsilon Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at the University of California, Los Angeles, will be hosting the 2nd Annual Charity Poker Tournament on March 6. All proceeds go to CA Epsilon’s EMCC Engineering Education Outreach Program. Visit the event home page for more details and to register

A NOVA PBS documentary, “Building Pharaoh’s Chariot,” will air this week and features Dr. Bela I. Sandor, IL A ’61, “an international expert on the techno-archaelogy of chariots and a professor emeritus of engineering mechanics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.”
