Opportunities in Engineering

The Association of State Dam Safety Officials would like to publicize the 2013-14 Senior Undergraduate Scholarship program. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2013. Scholarships of up to $10,000 will be awarded for the 2013-14 school year.

Successful recipients must be U.S. citizens and enrolled full-time at the senior level (during the 2013/2014 school year) in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO, and must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction and operation of dams. Tau Beta Pi continues to build a partnership with Teach For America (TFA), with plans underway for a STEM Achievement Gap Awareness week in early 2013.

TFA is interested in outstanding recent college graduates and professionals—of all majors, to commit to teach for two years in urban and rural low-income communities and become lifelong leaders in expanding educational opportunity. Apply now to join the 2013 Teach For America corps. The application deadline is Friday, January 11, 2013. We encourage you to mark your calendar for the ASEE 10th Annual K-12 Workshop on Engineering Education. The Workshop will take place June 22, 2013, in Atlanta, Georgia. Registration will open February 19, 2013. Click here for more information

Proposals to present will be accepted from November 5 through January 25, 2013. The workshop is entitled, “Tying STEM Together with Engineering.” According to the proposals page, “submissions should prominently feature hands-on classroom activities, , provide take-home or classroom-ready materials and be designed to engage participants in interactive exercises.”
