Distinguished Engineers, December 2012

Last week, Tyler H. Riggs, KY A 2013, was selected as a 2012 Capital One first-team Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA). Riggs is a junior majoring in mechanical engineering at the University of Kentucky. He plays division I men’s soccer at UK, leading the team in scoring the past two seasons. Rend Lake College (RLC) has named Peter T. Johnson, IL E ’87, as its 2012 Alumnus of the Year. Johnson is a senior lead of Flight Instrumentation Systems at NASA Kennedy Space Center. He earned an associate degree in science from RLC and went on to complete a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Cornell University recently announced that Rajit Manohar, Ph.D. (CA B 1994), has been named associate dean for academic affairs for the Cornell NYC Tech campus. According to the news release, “Manohar will serve as a half-time faculty member at Cornell Tech and half-time at Cornell in Ithaca.”

Dr. Manohar received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering from the California Institute of Technology. He also founded Achronix Semiconductor to commercialize high-performance asynchronous field-programmable gate arrays.
