Wayne State University has announced the 2012 Forest E. Brammer Endowed Lecture to take place on Friday, October 19, in the College of Engineering’s Marvin I. Danto Engineering Development Center. Dr. William J. Kaiser, CA E ’77, will give this year’s lecture titled “Wireless Health: New Technology and a New Industry.”

Dr. Kaiser is currently a professor of electrical engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He also serves as co-director of the UCLA Wireless Health Institute. Click here to read the press release

Tau Beta Pi’s 107th annual Convention is a week away! This year’s Convention will take place in Lexington, KY, hosted by the Kentucky Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at the University of Kentucky. The Association is pleased to announce a variety of professional development sessions that will be offered to all attendees at this year’s Convention. Popular Science recently highlighted a study published in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America related to bat echolocation. The study is focused on understanding how bats use echolocation to locate non-moving prey, which “could help improve biomimetic sensors” according to the study lead Dr. Roman Kuc, IL B ’68. Dr. Kuc is a professor of electrical engineering at Yale University.
