The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UI) recently released a news release regarding the upcoming initiation of Dr. Daniel J. Bodony, assistant professor of aerospace engineering at UI, into the Illinois Alpha chapter of Tau Beta Pi.
Each semester the IL Alpha chapter selects one outstanding engineering professor to induct as an eminent engineer. Dr. Bodony was recently chosen as a NSF Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) Award winner. His recent research is related to “the aeroacoustics of the human voice related to jet noise control.” Read the full news announcement
The Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation recently announced the 2012 Udall Scholars. This year, 80 students were selected from 70 colleges nationwide. The Udall Foundation is one of only five Federal foundations established by Congress. It was established to honor Morris K. Udall’s 30 years of service in the U.S. House of Representatives. The New York Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), will host its annual Egg Drop Competition on April 17th. The competition is open to all RPI students. Teams can be as large or as small as desired. The challenge is to design a device that can protect an egg from “a fall the height of the JEC walkway!”
