The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) has announced that president and CEO Larry D. Sloan, PA D ’85, has been elected to serve as the 2012 chairman of the Council of Manufacturing Associations’ (CMA) Board of Directors. Read the announcement

Two Tau Beta Pi chapters partnered together in January of this year to help with rebuilding efforts after the devastating storms in Tuscaloosa, AL, and New Orleans, LA. The Maryland Beta chapter, at the University of Maryland, and the Alabama Beta chapter, at the University of Alabama, spent their winter breaks cleaning lots, moving trash, and helping build a house through Habitat for Humanity.
MD Beta chapter president, Sean Symon (MD B 2012), recounts “on top of being an opportunity to foster liberal culture by serving the community, this particular service event incorporated engineering aspects as well.” A generous gift from UMD’s A. James Clark School of Engineering helped cover some of the costs associated with the trip.
This weekend Rutgers University will host 42 high school robotics teams competing in the area’s FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). The competition will pit teams in a game of “Rebound Rumble” the FRC version of basketball. Learn more about this event by reading the article from My Central Jersey
